no they didnt say "defective"

they said "already married to another tuner"

when i asked if it is like my ford truck where the dealership can just re-flash the ECM to factory specs, they say NO it cannot. that i must buy a new or used(unmarried) ECM

I have never heard the term married ECM...........My tuner is piggy backed off my ECM give Fuel moto a call they can set you straight.......Unless you have the money for HD to do what they want to it.......

so the tune is burned into the ECM and never can be removed?

it can, just have to use the original tuner..

prevents me from buying a 400 dollar tuner and tuning peoples cars with it.

I have an ECM AND a SERT tuned to the same ECM off an '09 if you still need one. If you use them together they will work, just not sure if an '09 ECM/ tuner will work with the '06. Look into it and let me know, I'll give you a good price.
